... A Joyful Heart If we Christians keep a joyful heart We look forward to each new day Being compassionate to all we meet Our Lord Jesus will show us the way. If we aren't happy with our own life It's hard to be happy with others Let's all strive to keep a joyful heart As should all Christian sisters and brothers. A good attitude is most important as it is displayed for others to see And how we relate to those others Determines how our life will be. If we speak words before we think And do things we know aren't right We cause hurt and sorrow to others Which is not pleasing in God's sight. Once harsh words are spoken They can never be taken back We can't undo the things we've done Let us think before we act. God wants His children happy Within our heart He dwells But if we neglect His presence By our actions, it always tells. Let us keep our life in perspective Let our outlook ...

... Thank God for Friends! When we are friends for so many years, God blesses us with memories that always bring tears. Maybe not surface ones to roll down our face. ... many times I felt the sorrow in the songs he ’ d sing. Late in his career, fame and fortune took its toll, It looked as if the loneliness had just consumed his soul. But are we any different when in loneliness we ’ ve sank? Do we feel the loneliness like Elvis and like Hank? Feeling so depressed and lonely when life treats us wrong? Feeling like the words were for us in that famous song? Life is full of happiness when it is going great, Sharing with your loved ones and your good friends and your mate. Then why is it when sorrows come we go it on our own? It seems we can ’ t help suffering especially when alone. It ’ s said we come into this world naked and alone, And that ’ s the way we leave it after all our seeds are sown. ... a good long life, it was his time to go, But even when the time arrives it's shocking as we know. It started getting crowded so I took a seat in back, Watching all the people who came in all dressed in black. I was so amazed at all the people who came by, You never see these people unless one of us would die. It seemed like a reunion for the friends and family, Acting kind of sad but also happy as could be, Because they finally got to gather and update their lives. Showing off their growing children, husbands and their wives. I expected any moment drinks would soon be served, It broke into a party and I thought they have some nerve" Laughing, joking, telling tales of how good life had been, And no one paid attention to my now departed friend. I just sat and looked at all the people that were there, And thought" why ...

... Sharing Today I went shopping in our neighborhood grocery store. I started with my Thanksgiving grocery list, But as I shopped I added more and more. Thinking of other delicious foods, I knew I'd end up buying out the store! I was in a grand and happy mood thinking of the coming holiday, Excited that once more our family would be together for another Thanksgiving day. I soon found myself on the baking goods isle, And there stood two boys to whom I gave a big smile! As I stood there filling my grocery cart, I heard the boys talking and what I heard broke my heart. The youngest said" Mama, can we have these "?" For our thanksgiving day, these cookies, oh please ?" I looked into the Mother's face, It was full of sadness, and of tears I saw a trace. As she looked down into her son's big eyes, She said," Son there will ...

... he could not wait until the kids were there. But this year as she sits alone and gazes at the lights, They knew someday that one would be alone on Christmas nights. They both had made a promise and now it was hers to keep, When that time did finally come they would not sit and weep. Instead of sitting all alone and feeling lost and sad, They would sit and reminisce of all the time they had. They would think of happy times and all the years gone by, The memories of the love and joy and have a happy cry. She knew someday they would enjoy each other once again, And Christmas Eve would once again be just as it had been. She smiled when thinking of a Christmas in a heavenly body, And laughed out loud when wondering if there would still be toddy. But, also sitting there alone she thinks of what he said," Remember babe our love won't stop ...

... Singing in the Daisies Morning sounds all around. The rooster cries, good morn. The dew a twinkling, on the grass. A new day, now is born. Happy birds start singing; Their lovely songs of love. To our Heavenly Father, Watching from above. A prancing deer, seems in a rush; He runs through nearby trees. A busy little squirrel" chucks ", And rustles, through green leaves. I'm walking through my garden; At peace, I'm so content. The breath, of it's refreshment; I know is heaven sent. The sun is shining brightly; It's resting on my face. It feels as though, I'm warmly hugged; In loving arms, embrace. Walking amongst God's flowers; Each a special, painted art. I'm singing in the daisies; The song," How Great Thou Art". I lay, so happy, like a child; Upon a patch of grass. ...

... Oh What A Day! Oh what a day The day my soul was saved I asked God for forgiveness And thats exactly what He gave I felt the need to go to the altar And Im oh so glad I did Now I can sit in Heaven with Jesus Where eternally I can live A burden was lifted off my shoulder That I carried around for years Now I only know happiness Happiness took the place of fear Jesus reached down and touched me And mended my broken heart Then softly whispered to me We will never again be apart Now the only tears in my eyes Are real tears of joy Because I walk holding Jesus ' hand Where I will forever live in glory Oh what a day The day my soul was saved I ask God for forgiveness And thats exactly what He gave-Dana Brooks-I wrote this poem on the day my soul was saved! ... Food For Thought God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. Disappointments are like road bumps, they slow you down a bit but you enjoy the smooth road after they're gone. Don't stay on the bumps too long. Move on! When you feel down because you didn't get what you want, just sit tight and be happy, because God is thinking of something better to give you. When something happens to you, good or bad, consider what it means-don't be sad. There's a purpose to life's events, to teach you how to laugh more, or not to cry too hard. You can't make someone love you, all you can do is be someone who can be loved; the rest is up to the other person to realize your worth. What the heart gives away ...

... Valentine's In God's Sight Valentines day has come and gone, those that were happy on that day, are now alone. Some received chocolates tied with a red bow, now it's gone with nothing to show. Some received flowers so pretty and bright, It seems like they wilted over night. Someone became engaged on that special day, now their love has faded away. Some had a phone call from a special friend, just to say I love you and then, It made you so happy to know that they cared, and the special friendship they shared. It was just another day gone by, for some to sit at home all alone to weep and cry. Isn't it strange how holidays affect each one, since that day has come and gone. We are all valentines in God's sight, He loves us every one with all His might, He's better than chocolates tied with a bow, He loves his children and lets ...

... what the smithy had in mind. So many times he melted me down, I could barely stand the heat; I grew stronger as I lost my impurities, and one day I ’ d be complete. Whenever the smithy was forging a sword or even a simple plow, I was always the one leftover piece that wasn ’ t needed right now. One day my turn finally came, and I was pounded, shaped and heated. I was ecstatic and very happy, because at last I was going to be needed. I did not know just what I would become, but the metal smithy knew. He was satisfied with his results, when I was finished and through. He tossed me into a pile of things that were all made just like me. I finally learned what I ’ d become; a" nail" was what I was to be. One day a man came into the shop and bought a clay pot ...

... , As if they didn't care! I saw ten-thousand sprightly heads, Dancing to a song, A crowd, a host of daffodils, Swept into a throng! They giggled lightly, fluttered by, And gazed up toward the sun, Asking if I wished to dance, And partake in their great pleasure. Their sparkling eyes and open mouths, Called for me to join, So how I could I but resist, When persuaded me they did? And with a happy heart, (For no longer was it lonesome ), I joined their happy chorus, Singing of life, grace, and beauty! And so I thought, as the day drew to close, How I a cloud, lonely as I was, Had made a friend of such a host, The glowing daffodils? I glanced up at the Milky Way, Strong and shining bright, And down again at the daffodils, Comparing the wonderful sight. And oh my heart, ...

... The Rottens The Rotten Boys are quite a pair. They don't wash their own faces or comb their own hair. They're the best of buddies morning, noon and night. They're happy as June bugs still standing upright. They wake up every morning and with joy they greet the day. With fluffy tails a-waggin, they only want to play. And when they get excited, as the Rottens often do, They break into a rousing Halleluiah chorus or two. They sing in perfect harmony; they know just what to do. Gabe sings, Yip, Yip, Yip! and Bailey sings, Woo, Woo! Nighttime always finds them tucked safely in their bed Waiting for a loving kiss and pat upon the head. Our lives would be so different if the Rottens weren't around. Instead of wearing happy smiles, we'd probably wear frowns. Our days are filled with sunshine. Guess you could call us blessed. ... Since we are dressed let's go to church. The preacher was preaching all about sin, He said you sinners let Jesus come in, Ol ' Willie Ben was squirming in his seat, He didn't know that Jesus he would meet. He had been so lonesome all of his life, He wanted so much to get him a wife, He thought if he went to the altar that day, Little Miss Gracie would turn him away. He didn't know just how happy she'd be, It thrilled her heart she danced with glee, He was so changed he was all aglow. Anybody could tell he had an overflow. Ol ' Willie could tell Miss Gracies ' in love, She treated him just as gentle as a dove, It wasn't too long before he had proposed, She said it wouldn't hurt, I don't suppose. Well they got married they moved away, She missed her mom and dad every day, In a few years ...

... When I'm an Old Lady When I'm an old lady, I'll live with my kids, and make them so happy, just as they did. I want to pay back all the joy they've provided, returning each deed. Oh, they'll be so excited. When I'm an old lady and live with my kids. I'll write on the wall with reds, whites and blues, and bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes. I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out. I'll stuff all the toilets, and oh, how they'll shout. When I'm an old lady and live with my kids. When they're on the phone and just out of reach, I'll get into things like sugar and bleach. Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head, and when that is done I'll hide under the bed. ... and been convinced? The beauty of creation is awesome evidence. Perhaps somewhere deep inside our souls a sense of God comes through, and with the spark that lights the fire, we come to know what's true. Insight is granted to each of us to accept or reject as we will. And even if we ignore it, His Spirit remains with us still. He comes to us in sunshine, and He comes again in rain. He's there with us in happy times and shares with us our pain. It's when we learn to seek Him that all wonder is revealed. ... Nature's Songs Who can watch a sunset, In the western sky. Wrapping the clouds in a crimsom robe, And not breathe a happy sigh? Where can I hear the morning song, Of the bluebird's welcoming trill. And not thank our Holy Father, As He reigns over valley and hill? Or watch the brown beaver toil, From dawn to the end of the day. building indescribable dams, That slows a farmers way? Or out in the dusty desert, Hear a coyote wail at night. Or hear the mighty roll of thunder, As lightning flashes into sight? And then there comes a rainbow, pleasing to a human eye. As it's muted colors, stretch across a cloud-darkened sky! Can man make a blazing sunrise, or make a silver river flow. Or hang a pale moon in the sky, or trigger the wind to blow? Only our faithful Holy Father, with his all-knowing power. Can make such ...

Smile as you answer the telephone Even though you know not who calls They may be discouraged and alone You may cheer as in their ear it falls. A voice sounds happy when you smile It may help to brighten someone's day They will feel much better in awhile A smile quickly chases a frown away. Holidays are coming quickly but it doesn't matter, Thinking she will not be with him only makes her sadder. For many years the holidays were filled with happiness, Never did she think that there would be one such as this. ... The Bluebird A happy little bluebird came to visit me this spring. She lit along the windowsill and tapped upon the screen. I thought when I first saw her that she would soon be gone, But spring has turned to summer, and her tapping still goes on. Morning, noon, and night, whenever I sit in my chair, I look out of my window amazed to find her there. She has become a messenger that bears hope to my heart, Telling me by her sweet song that loved ones never part. I know God uses dear ones to comfort and to cheer, To bring alive the hope that dims when we are in despair. To me, this tiny bluebird bears a message that is true, God is ever faithful, and He's watching over you. He knows the sorrow of your loss, for He's lost someone, too. And by the power of His loss, the faithful are renewed. ...

... The Conqueror (Based on Isaiah 40: 31 & Romans 8: 37) Stumbling along on a pathway one day, Depressed and so heartsick, the man tried to pray:" Oh, what have I done to deserve all this pain? Why is the life I live now so in vain ?" For gone was the happiness once he had known; Replaced was such heaviness -He uttered a groan." Where are You, my God? Oh, where have you gone? My loved ones have left me. How can I go on ?" To his ears, at that moment, came a loud piercing cry-The scream of an eagle, above, in the sky. Like lightning he streaked to the earth in a dive, Then soared up again, his capture -alive. The man watched in awe, this wonderful sight: He longed to be with him -that eagle in flight." ... The Glory Of Spring I opened up the door this morning and did a little jig. I smiled at the falling rain even though the drops were big. Those drops didn't discourage me as they fell on the window pane, before the dawn of sunshine I knew there'd be some rain For now the barren gardens are floating in muddy gloom, soon they'll house the buds from where the flowers bloom. We've looked forward to a grand awakening that is happily in the works, a burst of new life from where the bare tree limb lurks. The snow has all melted, Jack Frost has been sent on his way, though we thought we'd never see it we welcome Spring this day. I saw a robin perched on the roof, perhaps scouting out a nest, I placed shedded dog hair on the fence post, mama robin will do the rest. Soon tiny tots on swing sets will be reaching for the sky, filled with wonder ...

... About You Wouldn't this old world be better, If the folks we meet would say: I know something good about you, And then treat us just that way! Wouldn't it be fine and dandy, If each hand-clasp warm and true Carried with it this assurance-I know something good about you! Wouldn't things here be more pleasant, If the good that's in us all Were the only things about us That folks bothered to recall! Wouldn't life be lots more happy If we'd praise the good we see! For there's such a lot of goodness In the worst of you and me. Wouldn't it be nice to practice This fine way of thinking too; You know something good about me, I know something good about you! ... Christmas Greetings I wish you Christmas greetings, my friend, abundant blessings without any end, treasures more precious than silver or gold, faith that is strong and strength to be bold; love, laughter, a heart filled with cheer, and a generous spirit to last you all year. You may use me, dearest Master ," the wooden bowl said." But I'd rather you used me for fruit, not for bread" Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay. ... Before My Mother Died" Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death" (Song of Songs 8: 6 KJV) Before my Mother died Daddy always had a smile, Fun-loving, playful, upbeat~" carefree joy" described his style. Each day when he came home from work you'd hear his happy song, The men who worked beside him said he whistled all day long! He looked for folks that he could bless and hugged each who came near, Townfolk would rush up to his side to hear his jokes and cheer. His love was unconditional, he spread it far and wide~Yes, Daddy was a different man before my Mother died. After her death I never saw that glee once in his eyes. To me, Daddy seemed haunted by a ghost that never dies. Daddy went Home on August 12th, his suffering is no more ...

... Birds Are Amazing Birds are amazing to me, They seem so happy and chatter with glee. Do you ever wonder why their nests ' are built in a tree. I think for protection it could be. Their heads are so small with such a tiny brain, where do they go when they see it rain. Where do they go when it is cold. How do they fly when they get old. How do they know just what to eat, as they move so fast on their tiny little feet. Are they concerned about how they look, I don't think so, not in my book. They all stay together, in all kinds of weather. I don't see them fighting and hurting each other. They all get along better than a sister and a brother. It's amazing to watch them fly, how they soar so high in the sky, they know just how much to slow down so they wont splat when ...

... Counting My Blessings It's been a long time Lord, Since You, and I have met. But thinking back on things, There's not even one, regret. For You see, Lord I'm happy, For all the things You've done. I never would have made it, Without You're only Son. If I would count my blessings, And name them, one by one. I'd never count them all, Before the day was done. I can't remember all the things, That He has done for me. But there's one I won't forget, That's when He set me free. ... That we shall gladly cultivate; See in each one passing by The better things that beautify A softly spoken word of cheer, A kindly face, a smile sincere. I pray each day that we may view The things that warm one's heart anew; The kindly deed that can't be bought That only from good are wrought, A burden lightened here and there, A brother lifted from despair, The aged ones freed from distress; The lame, the sick, brought happiness. Grant that before each sun has set We'll witness deeds we can't forget; A soothing hand to one in pain, A sacrifice for love-not gain; A word to ease the troubled mind Of one whom fate has dealt unkind. ... End Of The Day Is anybody happier because you passed this way? Does anyone remember that you spoke to them today? The day is almost over, and its ' toiling time is through. Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you? Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's slipping fast, That you helped a single person of the many that you passed? Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said? Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead? Did you waste the day or use it? Was it well or sorely spent? Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent? As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say:" You have earned one more tomorrow by what you did today ?" ... Eternal Spring The life of Jesus is like the seasons of the earth. Spring brings life as a symbol of his birth, New animals are born and the children play, The sun seems brighter with each passing day. Then summer comes and Jesus is a man, He teaches His Father's word across the distant land, It is a time of joy and happiness everywhere, But a darker season approaches and autumn will soon be here. Autumn follows with darkness and cold, As the men of the earth reject all the Lord has told, He is carried to Calvary and there He is tried, He is crowned with thorns, and then crucified. Now winter arrives and my Lord lies dead. Satan claims victory and crowns his own head. But the grave cannot hold and Jesus reappears, The Savior is alive, and eternal spring is here!" Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. ...

Because I know sadness grows when it cannot be expressed and puts the soul in deep distress. ... Ages Of Love In youth, Love is a searing flame, That dominates your life. It roars and burns and wrings you out; It's happiness and strife. In the middle years, it's a cozy hearth, Which flares up now and then, To give you strength to do the things That life expects of men.
